CabiBUS  Sustainable mobility new website www.cabibus.com

The future of sustainable personal transport is: Mobility As A Service MAAS - On Demand - Door2Door - Ridesharing - Electric - Autonomous vehicles

CabiBUS is a vehicle and system that enables this by providing a secure, safe, effective, economical and comfortable travel in the privacy of a cabin.

(Partly a Google translation of the Swedish text ) More detailed presentation here
CabiBUS, the public transport solution that will attract a large share of private motorists to use public transport. Who killed the private car? CabiBUS!

With clear improvements over bus / tram and private car CabiBUS fills a huge gap in today's transport system. Going electric, door-to-door in your own compartment without having to drive yourself is as close to the ideal transport system that you can get (until teleportation is solved:).
CabiBUS can get private motorists to switch to public transport modes for some 100 million trips per year in Sweden, and thus greatly reduce car traffic and environmental impacts,
by offering trips that are more:
• economic
• comfortable
• safe
• effective
• healthy
• and enviromental
than the private car
CabiBUS can also be used by anyone without a license, thereby reducing the need to use a private car to drive children and old persons door to door.

CabiBUS will be:
• faster
• more comfortable
• safer
• more effective
• healthier
than other public transport and thus more attractive than to use the private car.

The Boston Consulting Group describes a scenario with this solution here:  Robo-Taxis and the New Mobility

CabiBUS will be significantly cheaper than taking a taxi but the taxi will still be the option when several persons go together, when you are really in a hurry, when you have a lot of luggage, etc.

CabiBUS is a compact electric minibus with 3-4 doors on each side for 5-7 passengers (6-8 when driverless operation is fully developed in about 2020-2025). Each passenger has a separate compartment with space for hand luggage, independent climate control, own Internet display for information, work and entertainment.

An IT system is used for travel booking and door-to-door journey planning. Reservations are made by phone, mobile app or the internet.
The payment system is simple because no changes are made, the traveler can get to know the price in advance, even if the price is based on length of journey.
Low risk of vandalism because each traveler's checks into his compartment with public transportation card, debit card or ID.
The only infrastructure needed is some battery changing stations (the technology is already presented by Tesla Motors, replacing the battery in 1 minute) or rapid charging stations (which is already on track to be built for electric cars).
CabiBUS is a convenient vehicle, as opposed to larger buses can move on all navigable roads across the region.

The traveler will not have all this (worst case scenario for the bus / tram):
Walk trough a rainstorm to a bus stop with broken glasswalls, wait for a crowded vehicle, stand among coughing, sneezing, drunk? fellow passengers, get off, wait for the next bus/tram, continue the travel standing, walking to the target on a poorly lit walkway with a risk of becoming a victim of crime.

Or (worst case scenario for the private car):
Shoveling up the car out of the snow, scrape the windows, freeze until the heat comes, crawl in traffic jams, fuel up, find parking, pay congestion / parking / parking fines / gasoline.

CabiBUS traveler can instead:
Work, read, make phone calls, sleep, use the Internet, eat the breakfast sandwich, choose temperature, see the view, sing ...

CabiBUS is simpler, more convenient, safer, more reliable and more environmentally friendly than any other means of travel. It is also suitable for children and persons with disabilities. CabiBUS can cut public transport costs for both society and the travelers and is much cheaper than the private car trips.
The recent rapid development of electric vehicles and batteries mean that the technology already exists. Even driverless cars is soon a reality, under development by Google and major car companies.
No special tracks, lanes or stops need to be built, which provides a low initial investment and good scalability.
CabiBUS can be produced in vastly larger volumes than buses and trams which provides economies of scale and low cost per seat.
There is therefore no other obstacles to realization than to fund the development and series production of the car.

Elon Musk, the creator of the most successful electric car, the Tesla Model S, has announced that its patented technology may be used by other manufacturers. Model S can seat 7 passengers, goes 400 km on one charge and costs less than half a million SEK (ex taxes), which means that an investment in the region, for example 20 billion SEK (the cost of a suggested subway with three stations in Göteborg, Sweden)  is enough to buy 40 000 vehicles with a total carrying capacity of up to 320 000 passengers simultaneously (self-driving, 8-cabin). If all of these previously were single private motorists it means that traffic can be reduced by 280,000 vehicles.
The solution is interesting for many regions of the world and can be a major Swedish export success.

CabiBUS provides significant benefits for society and travelers:
• Transition to fossil free fleet offers significant environmental benefits.
• Reduction of private cars provide less congestions and accidents.
• Eliminates the risk of infection in public transport results in fewer absences for illness and lower health care costs.
• Efficient and relaxed travel time means less stress and better work performance.
• Many motorists may choose to refrain from private car to get lower cost and more convenient travel.

CabiBUS with one passenger compartment (cabin) for each passenger is probably unique in the world. It is the solution that provides unique advantages against existing similar systems, and can attract large number of travelers to abandon private car.
The basic platform for CabiBUS can be based entirely on the technology in the 7-seat electric car Tesla Model S,  more than 100 000 cars are already manufactured and therefore the production of CabiBUS can be started quite soon. IT solutions for travel planning and booking are long on the market.

This description is only a summary description of CabiBUS public transport solution.

CabiBUS is an idea seeking individuals, organizations or companies with the resources to evaluate and further develop it.
